In partnership with NKE, ISI FISH has developed a seine net sink rate tracking application. By installing one or two Pressure/Temperature data loggers on the net, data on the sink rate, depth and temperature are recorded during the fishing operation and sent to the on board PC during hauling.
In effect, the captain can monitor the behaviour of the seine during a fishing trip: depth reached, speed of fall, temperature profile, presence of thermocline. These are all parameters that make it possible to better understand the effect of the physical conditions on the fishing net.
